Good amp, good sound, but one tube red plating after two hours of playing out of the box.
By B. Ren
I got this amp on Friday, and right out of the box it sounds so much better than my Marantz PM15S2 that it feels like switching from BW to color TV. I am streaming from Itune, and uses a NAD 1050 DAC, with this tube amp string instruments really turn to life. It has remarkable improvement over sound stage and dynamic range. I will recommend this over the $2500 PM15S2 any day of week. It is very good for Classical, Jazz, Blues. However the electric guitar sounds a bit dry, when I test it with Maggot Brain. I would wait until the tubes are properly broken in. So far it has less than 8 hours of playing time.
I rate it as 4 stars because on Friday night after setting it up and playing it for 2 hours, tube number 3 of the KT88 suddenly start red plating. As soon as I saw the thing trying to turn into a light bulb, I immediately turned the unit off. Let it cool down for 10 minutes and powered it back on. Everything seemed to be working fine. I got myself a multimeter only on Saturday morning, biased the amp as instructed, and I have been listening music with it for at least 2 and half hours during the weekend. I did not notice any change in sonic performance though. All KT88 tubes are glowing normally. They do run pretty hot though, I will recheck the bias in the future.
It is a well built amp, very sturdy and it sounds superb. I just hope the tube won”t blow. Red plating is not a good sign, so I only give it a four star, because I am not so confident on its longevity.

Very good, detailed
The MC_50L amplifier is a winner.Very good, detailed, open and spacious sound throughout the audio bandwidth you will hear with this tube amp.The unit itself is quite heavy, built like a tank. All metal, solid construction. This amp sounds much better, and is more musical than any transistor amplifier I have heard before. This amp really shines with jazz, old R/B, and classical music.Dave Brubeck: Take Five sounds splendid with this amp- you should hear it.The vacuum tubes operate quietly. Yes, they do get hot, especially the big boys— the kt 88. But the music you hear is all worth it. If you have good speakers and good input sources, get this tube amplifier. When you hear this, you will forget about transistors for a long time.PS– when new, the vacuum tubes require a break-in period of about 50 hours. After that, the sound opens up, and wow!

what can i say i’m super happy!
By james g.
what can i say i’m super happy!! The shipping was top notch, box arrived in pristine condition, quite early in the day too. I’m using the box right now as a table to support this heavy beast. I’d never biased a tube before, but it’s really obvious what to do. simply probe the clearly labeled holes and turn the allen screw just a tiny bit. in my case the voltages would have been probably close enough just a tad high right out of the box. I’m rocking hemispheres right now and sure the tubes are brand new but I’m pleasantly surprised with this yaqin mc-50l’s performance. I own a vintage knight tube amp(el84 push pull stereo pairs) and a modern Yamaha natural sound(a-s2000) integrated ss amp that I can compare this with and am looking forward to many hours of careful listening. I will be telling my friends of my positive experience. thank you amazon and Gemini doctor my purchasing experience was very satisfying
